It has been a long 13 years, till now…
I am a guitarist playing mainly Chinese unplugged songs. I started my music journey in 1991, learning Er Hu in a community centre. Interest for music grew with the Chinese Orchestra and with a stroke of luck, my elder brother introduced me the Guitar. My life changed …
I played till 4 am everyday during poly holidays; went around the neighborhood with my brother’s guitar (A “Laser” dreadnought, I can recall). My fingers blistered and bled…
It was before the 1997 Chinese New Year that I stumbled into 一炮而紅 at South Bridge Road (then, a 民歌餐廳). This started a strain of performing opportunities that I have made many wonderful friends in the local Chinese music industry, which I had witnessed, been thru a huge change.
Throughout this exciting musical journey, the one special thing that has kept my passion going is the Guitar. My self-taught experience on servicing guitar started on my very first Claude semi-acoustic (an Ovation copy from Korea). I remembered trying to flatten the bridge as the “Action” was really high due to a bulge on the guitar top. Nobody told me what “Action” and “Truss Rod” was back then.
I had horned my knowledge and skills on twigging guitars; electrics and acoustics. I have done countless set ups and maintenance on various makes of guitar thru my friends.
So, I have decided to take a step further, offering my skills to guitar enthusiasts and to render whatever services that I can. Seeing revived guitars are like seeing a new life…
